Beginner Pathways

Welcome, new pilot. Begin your journey through New Eden with these foundational guides designed to build your skills, your fleet, and your knowledge.

This is a site intended to respond two questions: What are the best things a new player can do? and How to obtain ISK to fund my account?

🛠️ New Player Setup

Everything you need to know about creating your character, choosing your starter skills, and setting up your first ship. Avoid the common mistakes that waste ISK early on.

  • You can choose any race and train any ship, but there are only few that excel and are useful for many activities that generate ISK.
  • Early on and living on high security space, the Player versus Environment activities are the main source of income. This guide focus on a selected play style.
  • Do not mix and match skills for trying to do lots of thing. This is a game about specialization. Invest your training time into what makes you more efficient at one activity.
  • The most useful ships for various PVE are the Guristas pirate faction: Worm, Mamba, Gila, Alligator and Rattlesnake.
  • Takes a little time to get the funds to acquire your first pirate ship. You can use your initial ships at the beggining. You get several of these by completing the training and the aura initial missions.
  • Initiate your training list into drones, caldari+gallente ships, shields, engineering, missiles and navigation skills.
  • New players can obtain 1 million skill points to boost the initial training. Use my registration link and we both will benefit.

📋 Planning for Omega

The biggest question every new pilot makes: is it true the account subscription can be payed with in game currency? Absolutely yes!

You just need to know what kind of activities generate the best income per time invested and work toward being more efficient at it.

How is this possible? There are people that have more money than time in real life, so the game offers this trade off to people that have more time than money.

A month of omega time cost 500 PLEX. In the in game market 1 PLEX can be adquired for 5,000,000 ISK (rounded as it fluctuates).

You just need a strategy: Set daily goals!

500 PLEX / 30 days of the month = daily goal of collecting 17 PLEX = 85,000,000 ISK.

Then is to perform an activity that produces this ISK and become more time efficient at it by training skills, improving your ship fit and taking more daring risks.

⚠️ What Not to Do in High Sec

Dont get killed that easily, Safety first!

  • Learn the security system and the rules for getting attacked on each space region.
  • Remember that all EVE is a PVP zone. You can get attacked anytime. But there are places where the chances are really low.
  • Concord is for punishment, not for protection. They won´t save you.
  • Get away from the bussiest areas around markets and main travel lines, are packed with gankers.
  • Leave caldari space, is full of predator players and extremely dangerous. Other regions are nice and quiet.
  • Golden rule: don´t fly anything you are not willing to lose. Fly something until you can rebuy it.
  • Everything is easier in packs. Get friends, join a corp. Your game experience would be much better and safer.
  • The activities listed in this guide can be completed anywhere. Moving valuable loot for selling can be done in other markets than Jita.

You want money? don´t waste your time and skill points.

  • Don´t train for mining as alpha account. The game is designed to limit how much ISK you can get from this until you get omega state.
  • The high sec ores are of minimal value. Any other activity gives more ISK for the time invested.
  • Doing industry as a new account makes you loose money. Your low level skills make you produce expensier things than buying them from market
  • Looting enemies waste your time. Learn to loot only the right wreck (explained bellow).
  • The bigger ships does not mean are better. This guide focus on specializing for particular pirate cruiser sized ships. You can train and get all the ships you want later when you have a fix ISK income.

🌌 Exploration Basics

Exploration is a core skill needed to enable multiple other activities. Is important to master this skill at some point.

In highsec there several groups of sites you could find:

  • Hacking and Relic sites in highsec are not great. But is a whole different story when going into dangerous space and can pay a lot. You risk a 3 million ship but can return home 100s of millions when going into dangerous space.
  • Sleeper Caches are challenging sites but can be mastered by reviewing the guides. Changes of finding rare blueprints are high here.
  • Ghost sites are dangerous but may drop valuable manufacturing components. The site spawns rats and explodes killing everything. smal ships will die if dont get out on time. Well tanked cruisiers can absorb the explosion.
  • Drifts are a minigame that offers fixed ammount of ISK if done properly.
  • You may find DED and combat complex sites. These contains pirates of several levels of complexity and may drop valuable loot. (see section bellow)

At the start maybe a small and cheap ship would not allow do all the sites you may find. But later other bigger ships (like Gila and stratios) could be fitted good enough to do all content.

The good news is that all these sites content is always the same. You can google the name of the site you find a guide to learn how to do each of them.

🎯 Faction Rat Hunting

You can find Cosmic Combat Anomalies in all systems. Use the Oportunities and the Agency to locate them.

The rats in these sites give minimal isk and loot is not worth to collect... BUT... there are 2 important reasons for clearing these sites:

Faction Rats may spawn that could drop valuable loot. Worth 10s to 100s of millions.
After completing a site, you may find a DED escalation (explained bellow).

  • Go and explore lots of systems, locating the combat anomalies and clearing them.
  • This activity becomes more efficient as you improve your skills and your ship.
  • Pay attention on the last wave of enemies. A pirate with a different name may spawn. Depending on the region, this faction rat would have a name like True Sansha, Dread Guristas, Domination, Dark, Shadow or Sentient.
  • Kill this rat ASAP and loot it! May contain faction ammunition, a faction module or a rare blueprint.
  • Could also salvage this rat wreck, would drop T2 salvage.

You could sell all this rare loot or use it to power up your own ships, contributing to the efficiency improvement.

🌀 Abyssal Space Low Tiers

Enter the Abyss! Low-tier Abyssal Space is your introduction to some of EVE's most dangerous content but that can become a steady source of high income when mastered.

Abyssal pockets are very straight forward: Enter and clear 3 rooms full of rats in less thant 20 minutes or die.

At the beggining and in low tiers may not look like much source of income compared to the risk it posses. But later, when skilled perfectly and with the right ship and right strategy, it becomes the highest source of ISK that can be achieved in high sec to the point it takes little time to meet your goals for plex.

The Abyss is designed to be done solo in a cruiser ship. But there are variations using destroyer or frigates for multiplayers that give more rewards.

How this can become important source of income to new players? In tier 0 and tier 1 Abyss, the pilot could go a do solo instead of goind with a partner.
1 Cruiser single pilot run - Base rewards.
1 Destroyer single pilot run - improved rewards.
1 Frigate single pilot run - Top rewards.

As yous skills improves and your access to specialized ships and modules expands, you will be completing each abyss run in less time, increasing your ISK per hour. Also increases the chances to get a big drop.

New players could invest their one million skill points registration and put into the skills needed for accessing this activity on day one:

Not all ships are capable of doing a good job here. Many of them would just plain die from not being correctly fit for the different types of abyss. The Abyss Tracker is the source of fittings. Also join the in game chat Abyssal Lurkers for advice and fittings.

The guristas pirate ships like Worm, Mamba and finally the Gila are the absolute top shipt to run Abyssal space. So plan your trainings as recommented into Drones, shields, racial ship skills.

For starting you can try initial tier 0 with a destroyer, then with a frigate for better rewards.

This activity turns into a steady source of income when you improve your skills and ship to the point of completing each run very fast. So you can do many runs within an hour.

📜 Missions and Standings

Missions are a steady source of income for new players, but the most importante reason to do them is for improving standings with NPC factions.

  • The higher standing you get with the faction that owns the space where you live, YOU WILL PAY LESS TAXES!.
  • This becomes very important later for selling loot and getting into industry and trading.
  • New players could loose about 15% of their ISK when selling-buying. Is possible to lower this to around 7%.
  • One part of reducing taxes is to train trade skills that lower taxes and raise standing with the owners of the station.
  • When doing missions, you will gain standing with the NPC corp. But after completing every 16 missions, you will get a special storyline mission that gives you standing with the whole NPC faction.
  • Declining more than 2 missions in a row or canceling a started mission will cause you to loose standings with both the corp and the faction. Avoid this. (resets after 4 hours).
  • When selecting a new mission, you may get one mission where the target is to attack other NPC faction. Decline these missions since affects the standings with other factions a lot.
  • You can train skills in the Social group to affect how much standing and rewards you get when completing a mission. Do this if it not affects your priority trainings.
